Rumba Box Audio

We recorded the Rumba box trying a few different methods.

a, Bass drum mic outside.
b, Condenser mic  outside
c, Bass drum mic inside

It sounds quite Mento but not fully.
Another test with bass drum mic inside and condenser outside might be the way to go.

But I think it sounds fantastic the way it is. Its just getting the right recording method to bring out it's best.

This recording is with the bass drum mic inside.

The Rumba Box III.

This is the one. Here at the cajon drum shop we have been working on the rumba box for a couple of weeks now. The MkIII is looking and sounding real good. We are going to record it soon and then paint a tropical theme on it.

The box is 30cm deep 48cm tall and 60cm long.

The earlier rumba boxes were smaller and still good but the bass and volume of this one is much better.

We will post sound clips soon.

The Rumba Box.

This is a fantastic instrument. It was used a lot in Mento Music as an alternative to a double bass.

We have made this prototype and it sounds great.

The MKII is already under-way and I will keep a photo blog of it.

Prototype cajon foot pedal

We are working on a big cajon which will be called the Blues Box. It may or may not have an internal foot pedal.

At present it works. But more testing and refinement is still needed.

The Devil May Care.

This is recorded using the Freddy Nelson Flamenco Cajon. I just got a new camera and thought I'd try some low key lighting.

Cajon - Conga.

The Conga Cajon

We have been working on a new Conga Cajon and this is the story so far.

The head is about 30cm and the height is 60cm. The test one which is shown here has a really good bass tone and a great ring when played on the outer edges.

We should have some of these ready for sale in a couple of weeks.
